Ticking / clicking dissonance from engine
ok well since i lost my warranty due to a scrap i had no inkling was in the automobile, i guess its time for assistance from y'all guys and get the problem fixed my damn self. Car has a clicking / ticking noise that has gotten more than aggressive in the concluding ii days.. earlier i was refused warranty piece of work i had asked them to bank check and run across if it was the Cam follower.. in which case they said information technology wasn't. car has 45k , oil inverse, and not consuming oil ... any ideas.. i can go a video if at all any help

Could be the intake manifold flaps...that ticks and clicks a lot in our cars. Start there.

Sounds to be the heaviest noise when cold, and coming from the turbo general area.. i have a video uploading every bit we speak, taking forever though... but .. im at work, by my iii:00PM break, it should be uploaded and sick post it up ~ thanks guys

If its the timing chain going Id close that mofo off and.replace it equally fast as you tin before some serious drama happens. Seriously,.go a $10 stethoscope and prod around in there.

Remove the engine cover and look around....sounds like a loose belt ....is the serpentine belt operating smoothly? Not a ticking noise...more than like a squeeking dissonance......does information technology go faster when u rev the engine or about the aforementioned?

It definitely doesn't sound normal. It sounds similar a bearing, pulley or belt squeak/squeal, but unless yous observe someone in the forum who has experienced the aforementioned noise, it's difficult to diagnose by video. It's layered over the normal ticking we hear on this engine. You may want to invest in an hour of shop time at the dealer or an indie shop to diagnose it and then do the fix yourself, if information technology'due south inside your scope.

Later on watching it over again in Hard disk drive, it sounds more similar a squeak than a click to me. Friend of mine said it sounded like air movement.
Not sure what area/part could be having air moving in that rythmic bike. It'll accept to be somewhere modest, and the noise coming from a minor leak, with pressure pushing through it. I'thou not too mechanical...so I tin't exist more than specific.
Although my personal have is it can also be a pulley or belt. If there's a deformity/abnormality that'due south causing it to rub, it might make that noise. But information technology sounds very much like safety on metal, or rubber on rubber.

My auto fabricated the verbal same noise a week agone while I was in gear stopped at the drive thru, simply information technology stopped when I put information technology in neutral. I haven't heard information technology since merely it sounds exactly the same.

the hphp is not very close to the turbo. were you able to hear that noise when listening at the back of the engine?

I thought these cars did not have the cam follower effect because cam follower was roller type like a in a diesel motor.

My 09 A4 P+ makes a clicking dissonance at idle also. I took information technology to the dealer as I'chiliad all the same nether warranty and they told me that the clicking is "normal" even thought its random. I do notice however mine seems to click only at idle and more often than not when its warm... I don't remember hearing the clicking when I bought it a couple years ago. How ever it hasn't gotten louder and I've noticed the noise a few months ago. Frustrating, every bit a year ago it was making a similar noise that required the head to be replaced (valve begetting) failed I recall is what they said (if that makes sense). Im paranoid as the warranty expires in 2 months.

It'south 2019 now only mines doing the aforementioned matter. Ticking gets faster once I reveal it and idk what it could be.
